SUMMARY:Memory Walk for The Alzheimer's Society
DESCRIPTION:Memory Walk Saturday 21/9/19  \nThis walk is to raise funds for a fantastic cause\, The Alzheimer’s Society. The walk will be one of hundreds of walks across the UK scheduled as part of their “Walking Season” raising funds to help them find a cure for this condition that is predicted to affect 75 million people by 2030. \nThe walk is about six miles on the coast path starting at The Theatre Babbacombe and ending at Torquay harbour. This section of the coast path has little in the way of refreshment stops so you will need drinks and lunch. As with all our walks we will take the pace of the slower walkers. The start time for the walk will be 11:00am outside the Theatre\, if you are using Public Transport the 122 bus leaves Paignton Bus station at 10:10 and arrives in Babbacombe at 10:44. \nShould anyone like to purchase supporting merchandise for the walk it can be found at https://shop.alzheimers.org.uk/. Walkers can either make a donation or get sponsorship. Forms can be obtained from Alasdair Anderson or Mike O’Donnell or downloaded from the web site https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-involved/events-and-fundraising/fundraising-support/sponsorship-form. If you intend to walk could you please let Alasdair or Mike know so we know the numbers we are expecting on the day. We then  stroll around the harbour toward the new Man & Boy statue and then onto Breakwater Car Park before returning into town and finishing at the Brixham Steam Packet’ ‘Chart Room Café’ should anyone like to take refreshment there. It is hoped that anyone suffering with early stages of dementia will come along with their carers\, meet new people and  enjoy this walk on the flat with stopping points along the way if required.
